Fire

Another fire cycle that Ive copied in order to study effects animation. This one is straight out of Joseph Gilland's Elemental Magic.

In the spirit of experimentation, Ive tried a different approach on a few frames here and there. My favorite bit was how Gilland has rolled his inner bits of fire off the central ball.

effects animation!

wow, its been almost 3 months....who knew.

I recently came across Elemantal Magic, the art of effects animation by Joseph Gilland. And it is AMAZING and I am hooked.

and so, while searching for more to fuel my curiosity in this side of animation I never realized I didnt know...I came across the great blog of Kathleen Quaife whose effects animation blew me away again.

she posted a page on fire animation and I couldnt resist drawing over it and filming it for myself:

2 more

Couple sketch book grabs. They may not seem like much, but I gave these two a little more time then I usually do nowadays. Had some fun with drapery and extra costume pieces etc

School project; the first time we've studied canines, and the first time Ive rendered muscle and not wanted to shoot myself.

AND heres a collab project with a buddy from class. She just made her own blog, check it:

She sketched the base pose, then I tried to make him look all TANKed. the clothes were pretty half and half.

PSO

I feel no descriptions are needed for any of these pictures.

Those who recognize these characters already know of the hours and hours of joy and happiness they bring - that is reward enough.

may your red boxes be numerous and never ending. ha
